What is a public health nuisance?
A public health nuisance is any activity or failure to act that adversely affects the public health. It also includes any source of contagion, filth, or disease. Some examples include clandestine labs, human or animal feces, food debris, accumulation of household trash, sewage, abandoned well, animal carcasses, and insect presence. These examples may occur in rental property as well as in open spaces and individual properties
A public health nuisance is a situation in which the presence of substances or unsanitary conditions are likely to foster disease or impair or endanger the health and safety of the dwelling, its neighbors, or the community. Examples include animal or insect infestation, improperly disposed waste products, or toxic fumes.
A public nuisance refers to conditions or situation that obstruct, cause inconvenience, or adversely affects the property rights of members of household neighbors, or persons living in the vicinity. Examples include vehicles blocking access to a residence, loud animals, or excessively bright lights.
